Ayako Garduque, PMHNP

I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I was born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in Honolulu, HI, which has provided me with the precious experience of growing up as an immigrant in a unique and special place. I have lived in the South, Midwest, and now the Pacific Northwest, appreciating each region’s distinct culture. What I found is that while each geographical area may have unique traits, people universally experience the same joys and challenges. I have professional experience in various psychiatric treatment settings but find the most joy working alongside patients in their journey and building long-term relationships.

My Approach

I take a preventative and holistic approach to reach and maintain mental wellness. My goal is to help you manage your condition in a sustainable manner. We will work closely to prevent symptoms from becoming further disruptive and debilitating, and avoid hospitalization unless clinically necessary. The mental health system can be inequitable and is not optimal for many individuals, but I believe we can all do our part to keep each other as healthy and well as possible. I have a special interest in working with patients in the healing or service professions, especially those in healthcare who often may struggle with recognizing their own needs while helping others.

I started this practice to help patients who are new to seeking psychiatric care, and for those who may work in the medical or psychotherapy field and need a confidential setting to seek care outside of their health system or community—without the fear of running into an acquaintance in the waiting room.

I treat most common psychiatric disorders including mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders, PTSD and trauma disorders, OCD, ADHD, mild psychosis, and mild substance use disorders. I also welcome neurodivergent clients and members of the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, and hope to provide a safe space for anyone who identifies in a marginalized community.
